Remember how once upon a time you were able to earn and keep money? I fondly remember those days, before Bundles and Steam Sales and fucking gorgeous Kickstarter campaigns that demand all of your money.
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? ‘No!’ says the man at Kickstarter, ‘It belongs to the indie developers.’
Hyper Light Drifter is the latest in a long series of wallet-opening indie game projects.
Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action RPG that looks to us like a cross between Chrono Trigger and Sword & Sworcery. Visually inspired by Miyazaki, it’s a unique blend of fantasy and cyberpunk, with gameplay said to be a mix between A Link to the Past and Diablo. Needless to say, it’s one to watch.
When I first saw the campaign it was at $9,000, now it’s over $100,000, so not only is this game happening, but the devs will have all the money they need to do their vision justice.
Check out the full campaign here to see why we’re so excited.
